08 Sep 2002: Just got back from the West Virginia Mountainboarding State Championship in Romney, WV. What a blast! There were boardercross, downhill, and big air contests. The downhill course was insane! 800 feet of vertical descent down steep, rocky logging roads and switchbacks. Only for the brave and those with good brakes! I managed to pull off a backside 360 for the Big Air in practice but couldn't stomp it in contest so I came in at 5th. Justin Rhodes from Mountainboardshop.com and Mountainboard Video Magazine took Big Air, Boardercross, and the Overall Champion titles and it was awesome to ride with someone of his caliber. Thanks to Brian Bishop at Off Road Boarding Magazine for running a great event. Now we've got to get some events happening here in the Midwest! - Jonathan

There is really no formal organization right now. Just riders looking to come together to have fun, learn, and help the sport grow. SIGN UP BELOW so I can get a running database started so we can start organizing rides and competitions, or just set a common time and meeting place to ride or work on tricks. Thanks!
